Wednesday’s child is full of woe

We are a bit of a sorry household this week. The dreaded lurgy has struck all of us in different ways. My munchkin boy has got constant streams of green snot running out of his nose and a terrible cough. He rarely gets sick so he is a bit puzzled by it all, bless him.
We had one comedy moment with him though on Monday. He was eating his afternoon snack when all of a sudden it came back up. After an initial freak out he was pretty fascinated by the whole experience. And so when we were talking to his dad later in Skype (he’s away for work) he very proudly said “I sick and mango came out of the mouth and went on the floor”. This is one of the longest sentences we have heard him say so despite the element of tmi we were fairly proud and amused.
As you can see from the pic he also has quite a nasty bump on his head where he fell climbing up a big slide at the playground (not on my watch might I add 😉 )
Here he is on a slightly more appropriate ride

Cupcake is also suffering, bless her. She had been doing pretty well and enjoying her new toy

However, a small snotty boy who likes to kiss her a lot may be the reason she woke up coughing this morning and is fairly pukey.
Last night was a nightmare. Both kids were awake at 2.30am. Munchkin usually sleeps like a dream but I could hear him yelling “see you later alligator” at the top of his lungs. Not sure who he was talking to but it was fairly random. Cupcake wouldn’t settle after her feed and I couldn’t find her dummy.
Why is that we own about 6 of the damn things but they all disappear at 3am? I turned the house upside down looking for one, pulling cushions off sofas, emptying pockets, going through laundry baskets, to the extent we looked like we had been burgled this morning. I eventually found one and she went back to sleep while I lay with fitful sleep and dreams of collapsing cots and pukey kids.
The result of which is that I feel like absolute crap. My head hurts, my throat is sore and my nose is running. Am I surprised? Not really…
Can this day be over already please?

Apart from DVDs any tips to amuse sick kids and give their mums a rest?
