Down home on the farm

In September we took a trip to Oregon, on the west coast of America. My husband’s sister was getting married so we had a great excuse to take the Munchkin over to meet his American family and in particular, his great grandma. My husband is very close to his grandma so really wanted to make sure the 2 of them could meet. It was such a thrill. Jer’s mum lives on a farm so Munchkin had a fabulous time exploring, meeting the cows, playing in the dirt and generally, being a good ole’ american boy.

Here’s some of what we got up to:

walking down a farm lane giggling

We walked up and down the lane to see the cows

us meeting the cowsNot sure who looks more uncertain, Munchkin or the cow!

We picked handful after handful of plump, juicy blackberries and made blackberry shortcake. YUM!

playing in the dirt

Played in the dirt. All little boys seem to have an innate attraction to playing in the dirt, don’t they? Especially when they are wearing white…

Munchkin getting a hug from dad

Getting big hugs from daddy

on an old truck

This one’s my favourite. There is an old truck in the yard and Munchkin loved sitting on it. I think with his dirty face and the old truck he looks like such a little farm boy.

He loved being there and just made me realise how much we need to make sure that he gets to know nature and the great outdoors.

Farms are cool for little boys (and grown ups!)

Your pictures are beautiful! I’m glad you had a good time buy, oy, West Coast of America is a really long trip for you, especially with the time change. But your little man doesn’t look any worse for the wear!

thank you both so much for your comments!
Suzanne, it was a heck of a long trip (10 hours then 4 hours in the plane) but he was so good. Time change didn’t affect him a bit, unlike his parents 😉
Andrea, so nice to hear you think he looks like me. Most people think he looks like his dad. To be honest he is way cuter than both of us!!
